✅ 🐞 Editor attempts Mixpanel connection after V3.34 release #34065

Description

After updating Elementor to version 3.34.0, my browser warned me there’s tracking content on my website when I’m logged in: api-eu.mixpanel.com. The request is coming from /wp-content/plugins/elementor/assets/js/common.min.js?ver=3.34.0

Data Sharing in Elementor > General > Settings is turned off.

If I rollback to Previous Version, 3.33.6, there is no more Tracking Content. All my sites that are still on 3.36.6 don’t make requests to api-eu.mixpanel.com, while those that are already on version 3.34.0 all make those requests, exactly like my fresh installation.

The requests are triggered when any user role is logged in and is on wp-admin. When a subscriber is logged in and viewing the front end, there’s no Tracking Content. Logged in editor and admin users have tracking content requests both when viewing the front end and when they’re on wp-admin.

(Reason: CORS request did not succeed). Status code: (null).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Fresh install of WordPress 6.9
  2. Default settings, Twenty Twenty-Five theme, nothing modified
  3. Install Elementor from the WordPress plugin repository
  4. Be logged in as any user role, visit wp-admin and check developer console, search for api-eu.mixpanel.com in the network tab. If you have tracking protection enabled in your browser or if you’re using an extension, it will likely also show up there.
  5. Rollback to 3.36.6 and you will notice there’s no more connections to api-eu.mixpanel.com.

Expected behavior

Elementor shouldn’t make requests api-eu.mixpanel.com when you’re logged in. Especially when data sharing is off. Compared to a previous version, 3.33.6, the expected behavior is that Elementor should never connect to Mixpanel.
