Daily Create: Haiku To A Book Of Days

SongBook Of Days

I am slow-reading This Year: 365 Songs Annotated (A Book Of Days) by John Darnielle (of Mountain Goats fame) in which he annotates and explains and tells stories of patches of lyrics to songs, one per day of the calendar year (an old format). Today’s DS106 Daily Create prompt asked us to write a haiku for our favorite book. Darnielle’s book is not necessarily my favorite (I am still near the start of the year in his book) but I am enjoying it, as a reader and a songwriter myself.

Poetry: Ice and Black Out and more

Creek Sculpture

I am doing a little catching up of poems from the last few days. The one above is from this morning’s one word prompt off Mastodon (creek).

This next one is from yesterday’s Daily Create, in which we were prompted to use found words of old documents for a “franken-poem” format.

And then I saw that John J had created a randomizer blackout poem generator just for the prompt (which I find pretty amazing) so of course I had to give it whirl.

And then yesterday’s one word prompt was “soup.”

The Daily at 14

Daily Create at 14

It wasn’t that long ago that we celebrated the 5,000th post at the DS106 Daily Create and now we have a birthday of the launch of the first daily invitation to make art. The Daily Create launched on January 8, 2012, and has been running every day since. The prompt this morning was to create or remix art to invite others to join in the fun. Consider yourself warmly invited.

Peace (and making stuff),
Kevin

Poetry: Moon Song

Moon Song

The Daily Create prompt was to write a poem, inspired by sounds in the room. But I thought of the moon, which was big and beautiful this morning.

Peace (looking skyward),
Kevin

PS — here is my morning haiku, too – the prompt was “New Year”
