Daily Create: Haiku To A Book Of Days
I am slow-reading This Year: 365 Songs Annotated (A Book Of Days) by John Darnielle (of Mountain Goats fame) in which he annotates and explains and tells stories of patches of lyrics to songs, one per day of the calendar year (an old format). Today’s DS106 Daily Create prompt asked us to write a haiku for our favorite book. Darnielle’s book is not necessarily my favorite (I am still near the start of the year in his book) but I am enjoying it, as a reader and a songwriter myself.
Peace (day by day by day),
Kevin
Daily Create: A Turning Poem
The prompt this morning at DS106 Daily Create was one that I submitted, using a site that does funny things with words. I made a little music and added my voice, and then filtered the animation for effect.
Peace (twisting words),
Kevin
Daily Create: Cat
We were asked to sketch a bad drawing of a cat for this morning’s prompt at DS106 Daily Create.
So I did.
Peace (and purrs),
Kevin
Daily Create: Box of Dead Links
This morning’s prompt at DS106 Daily Create was to come up with a generic container for something modern. I decided on a box of dead links.
And while I am at it, I am going to share what I did yesterday, with a prompt inspired by the legendary radio man Paul Harvey and his catch-phrase, but with a modern touch.
Peace (and connection),
Kevin
Poetry: Ice and Black Out and more
I am doing a little catching up of poems from the last few days. The one above is from this morning’s one word prompt off Mastodon (creek).
This next one is from yesterday’s Daily Create, in which we were prompted to use found words of old documents for a “franken-poem” format.
And then I saw that John J had created a randomizer blackout poem generator just for the prompt (which I find pretty amazing) so of course I had to give it whirl.
And then yesterday’s one word prompt was “soup.”
Peace (with poems),
Kevin
The Daily at 14
It wasn’t that long ago that we celebrated the 5,000th post at the DS106 Daily Create and now we have a birthday of the launch of the first daily invitation to make art. The Daily Create launched on January 8, 2012, and has been running every day since. The prompt this morning was to create or remix art to invite others to join in the fun. Consider yourself warmly invited.
Peace (and making stuff),
Kevin
Pigs Fly
This morning’s prompt at DS106 Daily Create brought me back to a toy hack project from CLMOOC in which I was experimenting with stop-motion.
Peace (and pigs),
Kevin
Daily Create: One Oh Six
Peace (and numbers),

Daily Create: Oh, That Cat
I submitted today’s prompt for the DS106 Daily Create, after coming across a site that uses Medieval Cats for memes. I laughed when I saw this art and then thought, someone just asked it to play Freebird.
Peace (and sound),
Kevin
Poetry: Moon Song
The Daily Create prompt was to write a poem, inspired by sounds in the room. But I thought of the moon, which was big and beautiful this morning.
Peace (looking skyward),
Kevin
PS — here is my morning haiku, too – the prompt was “New Year”
