ITU, in partnership with the Reply AI Film Festival (Reply AIFF), invites filmmakers and AI enthusiasts worldwide to push the boundaries of cinematic creativity. The collaboration encourages participants to harness the potential of AI in filmmaking and create visionary narratives that inspire reflection and action toward a more sustainable future.

The special “AI for Good Award” at the Reply Challenges AI Film Festival 2026 brings together technology, storytelling and social impact. Presented in partnership with ITU’s AI for Good, the award recognizes a short film that addresses pressing global challenges while celebrating human creativity in AI-enhanced filmmaking.

Submissions are assessed on how effectively AI enriches the filmmaking and storytelling process, as well as their ability to raise awareness and inspire action. Entrants should identify the global challenges explored in their films and explain how these themes are integrated into their narratives.

The ten finalist short films will be showcased at the third edition of the Reply Challenges AI Film Festival, held under the theme “Imaginatio Nova” during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The selected winner of the AI for Good Award will be honoured at the festival’s premiere event in Venice.

The international jury brings together acclaimed filmmakers, storytellers and creative-technology leaders, including Gabriele Salvatores (Mediterraneo, Puerto Escondido, Siberian Education, Napoli – New York), Rob Minkoff (The Lion King, Stuart Little, The Haunted Mansion, Mr. Peabody & Sherman), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), Jed Weintrob, Christina Lee Storm, Brian Welk, Giacomo Mineo, Filippo Rizzante, Nils Hartmann, Denise Negri, and Guillem Martínez Roura, representing the International Telecommunication Union.

This marks the second edition of the award presented through the partnership between Reply and ITU’s AI for Good, celebrating the power of filmmaking to inspire dialogue, reflection and action on some of humanity’s most pressing challenges.
