Do you have a list of shortcodes anywhere I can use with other plugins? I use Ultimate Member for my membership and would like to add the forum posts in the profile tabs.

Hi. I’m not sure if this has been raised elsewhere. I updated Simple Press to 6.11.0 on Friday and it broke the mobile version of my forum. All buttons are grayed out to members/admins, the page formatting/design is broken, and nobody is able to post. The only workaround we’ve found is to request the desktop version in a mobile browser, which still works fine.

I’ve tried disabling all other plugins and reverting to a standard WP theme, and it definitely seems to be a SP issue.

I also cannot now change the mobile forum theme in the admin section. There’s a red button saying Update Mobile Component which creates a “Please Wait…” banner message that never resolves. Switching to another mobile theme is not possible because the Activate Mobile Theme buttons are all grayed out. The same things happen on the mobile tablet page. Thankfully the desktop theme can still be changed.

Other SP forums such as this one also seem to have similar issues on mobile, though I’m not a member and can only check the layout.

Can you please help?

This plugin has been closed as of February 27, 2025 and is not available for download. This closure is temporary, pending a full review.

We just upgraded to the 6.10.9 version and it appears some, if not all, of our members can no longer post to the forums. When they go into their profile and click on the permissions tab, the permissions match the “Read Only” permission set.

However based on their membership group the permissions are still correctly set to “Standard Access” which has the “Can start new topics in a forum” as well as other permissions that the Read Only group denies.

I checked, double checked and triple checked our forums groups and permissions and everything is set correctly. I haven’t made any changes in those areas of the forum in years.

I am convinced that the upgrade to the 6.10.9 version caused this issue. The only other change I made recently was disabling the Captcha simple press forums plugin. I tried re-enabling that plugin which did nothing to resolve the permissions issue as I expected.

I also tried all of the cleanup, rebuild and flush cache options in the housekeeping. None of which resolved the permissions issue.

Please help!

We recently updated Simplepress from 5.7.5.3 to 6.10.8. I am no longer seeing any features in the admin. I ran the database update and it functions on the front-end but no where to access the settings in the back end. Please advise!

Tried upgrading to WordPress 6.4 and immediately got this error.

But in the forum profile tabs & menus I cannot find an option to delete anything, only change the order.

Am I missing something?

I have just checked the SP logo in the footer to see where the ‘about simple:press’ link goes to. It does not open in a new tab.

I appreciate that using the free versions might have some branding. But taking users away from my website is not acceptable.

I have selected the page for my SP forum to appear on. Since selecting the page SP has added the name of the website after the page title. Which looks terrible.

I have been into Rankmath and removed the separator and site name options on the page. That didn’t work.

My page titles are all Breakdance Builder Header elements with dynamic data pulling the page title.

Since adding SP the above has occurred so it is definitely something SP is doing.

Another issue I would like to resolve is how to remove the ‘Stats’ and members online etc.?

I have searched all over for a solution. I thought I’d found it in the SP forum but it was instructions for amending code and creating an SP child theme.

I went to cPanel but couldn’t even find the theme I have added, let alone clone it to a child theme.

It feels like it should be a quick on.off option within SP?

I have just installed Simple:press and have uploaded custom smileys to the correct folder. They show in the Manage Custom Smileys area but are all marked as unused.

I am unable to change them to used. I read the tooltip that says:

“Apart, of course, from the actual image file, smileys require an identifying name and a code. Codes are most usually entered prefixed and suffixed with a colon – for example :smile:”.

But I cannot find any instructions, even using Google, on how and where to add the codes. Does anyone else know?

Hello, I have the custom overlay selected for Modern 2020 selected and there is no option to customize the theme as the website states. How do I remedy this?

Need to add two different custom fields options.

A. Add standard custom fields such as Date, time of day, temperature, weather conditions, etc. that user can manually fill out when doing a new topic post in fishing category.

Will the wpForo Topic Custom Field add-on accomplish what I need?

B. Also need the ability to have geolocation after the above custom fields. It is so the member can post where they caught fish.
(The way this needs to work is that the member poster moves the pin on a map and the GPS coordinates are filled in. Or the member puts in their coordinates and the location is pinned on the map and they can adjust by moving the pin.)

When the new topic is submitted, the members of the forum need to be able to see all the custom fields and see the GPS coordinates.

Is it possible to fine-tune users?
1) I would like the editing mode of a certain topic to be enabled only for users I have defined. In this case, the view would be available to all users
2) is it possible to make it so that these users can create messages only in turn?
3) is it possible to limit the maximum number of messages in a topic?

The Simple Press forum works perfectly when a visitor is logged in. However, when not logged in, I get an error message. Is there some setting that could cause this? I set the permission for visitors that aren’t logged in, to “read only”.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to proceed. Where should I look?

Hi – I’m setting up a forum for a client and love Simple:Press so far EXCEPT that my SP admins cannot approve new posts by using the “Tools” button/popup. I’m able to do that as the wordpress admin but my clients are the ones who need to be able to manage their forum. I know they can automatically approve a new post by replying, but they don’t want to do that every single time and would like to do it with the Tools popup box instead. Am I missing something? Upgraded to Simple Press 6.8.1 and PHP 8.1.12 and found the following bug:
When replying to a forum post the reply is no longer formatted, but instead displays html code: blockquote, span, p, br…

Also I no longer have the formatting toolbar (bold, etc…) when writing a new forum post or a reply.

Tried also with PHP 8 and same problem. Works with PHP 7.4.

What’s the status on PHP8 compatibility?

PHP7.4 security support ends in about 2 months, and several hosts are migrating to PHP8 on/around that date. I have a site running Simple:Press v6.7.0, which doesn’t support PHP8, and I have until November 2, 2022 to either A) get it working, or B) find an alternative… which I REALLY don’t want to have to do!

Hi .. I am do pre-purchase look at simple-press .. I was not able to get a featured image to display in the forum title bar. I was able to upload a 200×200 px image and then select it for the forum but it does not show. I tried several images 1 jpeg and the other png.

Is this a premium feature ?

I have a client that wants to do a blog site like this where users can login and create a username and password and post in blog posts like this site – https://www.lipstickalley.com/. I have used DIVI with the DIVI Blog Module feature but this site looks like it is pulling from other social media and allows users to generate posts and discussions etc. Would the Simple Press Plugin accomplish this or is Simple Press just for membership and creating user accts. Please advise. Lauren B.

This is preventing us from being able to put our forum topics in alphabetical order. Can you please let us know if this is a known issue with the last 3-4 versions of SimplePress and if you see the issue in your testing environment or if this is something that might be a script conflict?

We have the latest version of SimplePress, WordPress, all plugins updated and we are on PHP 7.4 without any caching systems or load balancing.

I used woocommerce_cart_product_subtotal hook for recounting subtotal price (extra tax by count). Everithing works good, but it doesn’t change Cart Subtotal ant Total price.
Is it normal? Or how can I Products subtotal and Cart subtotal at the same time?

Hello!

After a long and successful run using your Simple Press solution, the client has decided to close their forum.

Can you recommend the best way to archive this forum so we won’t have any outdated software and any furher issues as time goes by? Example, due to a conflict, I’ve had to deactivate Yoast until we can find that solution.

When I activated PHP8 site showed Fatal error. Users unable to login.
Recreated this on Localhost (XAMPP). Inactivated all plugins.
After activating Simple:Press plugin Ilogged out and in again which resulted in following:

Our client wants to get notified when there is an answer on their forum post and they want to have the possibility to pin a thread so that they are notified whenever someone writes something in this thread.

Somehow I am not getting emails in my tests. I can’t find the email settings for this type of messages as well.
