Located in the heart of Istanbul’s historic peninsula, within the unique atmosphere of Sultanahmet, Sura Hagia Sophia Hotel is a distinguished hospitality project that brings together the architectural character of the past with contemporary comfort and modern hotel standards.

Developed by Kaygısız Group and completed in 2014, the project was conceived with a sensitive approach that preserves the historic identity of the building while integrating the comfort, functionality, and technology required by a modern luxury hotel.

Given the particular requirements of a historic structure, LED technology was selected throughout the lighting scheme. With its low energy consumption, long service life, and reduced heat output, LED lighting provided an efficient solution while supporting a lighting approach designed to respect the building’s historic fabric.

The hotel’s lighting details, technical solutions, and project-specific products were developed by SOON Light & Project. From architectural details and decorative areas to guest rooms and public spaces, each lighting solution was carefully considered to complement the historic atmosphere while creating a warm, refined, and welcoming environment.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the project was its demanding schedule. The comprehensive design, technical development, and production process was completed within just six months, demonstrating SOON Light & Project’s ability to combine bespoke product development, manufacturing expertise, and efficient project management within a challenging timeframe.

The resulting lighting concept highlights the building’s architectural character without overpowering its historic identity, while enhancing the elegant, warm, and sophisticated atmosphere of Sura Hagia Sophia Hotel.

Through this project, SOON Light & Project successfully combined a heritage-sensitive design approach with modern LED technology and custom manufacturing expertise, creating a refined connection between historic architecture and contemporary hospitality through light.
